Scaler Academy fees in 2026 are ₹3,99,000 for the 12-month Software Development and AI Engineering program. No-cost EMI starts at about ₹9,800 per month (₹9,811 on the Academy page, ₹9,791 on the other program pages), and Scaler's DSML, DevOps and FDE pages list a ₹20,000 upfront commitment. The same ₹3,99,000 price applies to Scaler's Data Science and Machine Learning, DevOps and Cloud, and AI Forward Deployed Engineer programs. A merit scholarship of up to ₹25,000 is available based on a 30-minute entrance test, and you can get a full refund if you withdraw within 14 days of your first class.
That is the short answer. The rest of this guide covers what the fee actually includes, how the EMI works, what the asterisk next to the price means, where people get caught by extra charges, and whether ₹4 lakh is a sensible number for your situation.
Scaler Academy fee structure at a glance
| Program | Duration | Total fee | Upfront | EMI starts at |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Software Development and AI Engineering (Scaler Academy) | 12 months | ₹3,99,000* | Not listed on page (advisor call) | ₹9,811/month |
| Data Science and Machine Learning (DSML) | 12 months | ₹3,99,000* | ₹20,000 | ₹9,791/month |
| DevOps and Cloud Computing | 12 months | ₹3,99,000* | ₹20,000 | ₹9,791/month |
| AI Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) | 12 months | ₹3,99,000* | ₹20,000 | ₹9,791/month |
*Scaler lists the fee with an asterisk and does not explain it on the course pages. In Indian ed-tech pricing this usually points to GST or scholarship conditions, so confirm the all-inclusive payable amount in writing before you pay the ₹20,000.
Sources for the table: Scaler Academy, Scaler Topics: course fees, Scaler Data Science course, Scaler DevOps course, and Scaler's own Is Scaler Academy worth it page, which states that programs "currently start at ₹3.5+ lakh."
Not to be confused with: Scaler School of Technology, a 4-year residential undergraduate program in Bengaluru with separate tuition, hostel and mess fees. This article covers only the online Scaler Academy programs for working professionals and graduates.
How Scaler Academy fees changed over the years
Scaler's price has moved up over time. Learners reviewing on Course Report and Trustpilot cite paying around ₹2.5 lakh to ₹3 lakh in earlier batches. Scaler's own pages now say programs "start at ₹3.5+ lakh," and in 2026 all four flagship programs are listed at ₹3,99,000.
Two practical takeaways:
- The price you see on a third-party review from 2023 is no longer the price.
- If you are planning to enrol in the next 6 to 12 months, the fee is more likely to rise than fall.
What the ₹3,99,000 includes
Scaler bundles the following into the base fee across its programs:
- Live online lectures on an evening and weekend schedule, with recordings, aimed at working professionals
- 1:1 mentorship sessions with working engineers
- Teaching assistant (TA) help and pause/resume options
- Curriculum access for 6 months after course completion
- Career services: resume review, mock interviews and placement assistance
- Access to the Scaler alumni community
Scaler is explicit that career services are "assistance," not a guarantee. The Academy page itself says: "we do not guarantee you a job." Keep that in mind when you compare it against pay-after-placement bootcamps, which we cover below.
Scaler EMI: how the ₹9,791 per month figure works
This is where most of the confusion around Scaler fees comes from, so here is the math.
- Total fee: ₹3,99,000
- Upfront commitment: ₹20,000
- Balance financed through EMI: ₹3,79,000
- Advertised EMI: "starting at ₹9,791/month" on the DSML, DevOps and FDE pages (₹9,811 on the Academy page)
₹3,79,000 divided by ₹9,791 comes to roughly 39 months. So the headline EMI figure assumes a tenure of a little over 3 years, not 12 months. Scaler's own page confirms that EMI tenures run from 6 to 36 months depending on the plan, and that both no-cost and standard-interest EMIs are offered through partner NBFCs.
What this means for you:
- No-cost EMI means Scaler absorbs the interest, so you pay ₹3,99,000 in total regardless of tenure. Ask for this in writing.
- Standard EMI means you pay interest on top, and the all-in cost will be higher than ₹3,99,000.
- A 36-month tenure means you keep paying for 2 years after the 12-month course ends. Budget for that, not just for the course year.
- Shorter tenures (6, 12 or 18 months) carry much higher monthly payments, roughly ₹21,000 to ₹63,000.
Credit card EMIs are also accepted. Those come with your bank's interest rate, not Scaler's no-cost terms, so compare before you pick.
Scaler scholarships: up to ₹25,000 off
Scaler offers a merit-based scholarship of up to ₹25,000 based on your score in a 30-minute online entrance test. Scaler does not publish the test syllabus on the program page; the scholarship amount depends on your score.
- ₹25,000 is the maximum, not a flat discount. Lower scores earn smaller amounts or nothing.
- The scholarship is applied to the total fee, bringing the best case down to ₹3,74,000.
- Scaler's site shows "pay as little as ₹9,811 per month" after scholarship plus EMI, which is almost identical to the non-scholarship EMI. The scholarship mainly shortens the tenure or lowers the total rather than changing the monthly figure.
Scaler refund policy: the 14-day window
Scaler allows a full refund if you withdraw within 14 days of your first class. After that window, refunds are generally not available even if you pause the program or your circumstances change. This is confirmed on Scaler's own worth-it page and in learner answers on Shiksha.
Use the 14 days properly:
- Attend every live class and at least one mentor session in that window.
- Check whether the batch pace, timing and instructor quality match what the counsellor promised.
- If you are not convinced, send a written withdrawal request before day 14. Do not rely on a phone call.
Reviews on Trustpilot include learners who missed the window and describe feeling "stuck" with the full fee. Trustpilot has also flagged the Scaler listing for fake reviews, so weigh both the glowing and the angry reviews with some caution.
Hidden and additional costs to plan for
The ₹3,99,000 figure is the tuition. These costs can sit on top:
- GST. If the asterisk denotes GST at 18%, the all-in figure would be around ₹4,70,820. Get the invoice amount confirmed before paying.
- Pause charges. Scaler lists pause/resume as a feature, but at least one Trustpilot reviewer reports that modules cannot be postponed individually and that pausing the program carried additional charges. Ask for the pause terms in writing.
- Interest on standard EMI. Only no-cost EMI keeps you at ₹3,99,000.
- Lost income. If you plan to quit your job to study full time, that is the largest cost of all. Scaler is designed to be done alongside a job, so most learners should not need to.
- Extended access. Course access lasts 6 months after completion. If you need the material beyond that, ask what it costs.
Scaler fees vs other coding bootcamps in India
Scaler sits at the premium end of Indian bootcamp pricing. Here is how it compares with the alternatives most of our readers weigh it against. For the full picture, see our guide to coding bootcamp fees in India.
| Bootcamp | Fee model | Approximate total cost | Who it suits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Scaler Academy | Upfront or EMI, payable regardless of placement | ₹3,99,000 | Working professionals with 1 to 8 years of experience who want structured DSA, system design and AI depth |
| Masai School | Pay After Placement, slab based on your CTC, ₹0 if no job within 1 year | ₹2,50,000 to ₹4,50,000 | Freshers and career switchers who cannot pay upfront |
| AccioJob | Pay After Placement (limited seats), ₹0 below ₹3 LPA; upfront plan of ₹75,000 otherwise | ₹1,80,000 to ₹4,00,000 by CTC, over up to 24 months | Freshers targeting service and product companies |
| AlmaBetter | Upfront, EMI available | ₹75,000 to ₹1,00,000 | Freshers and early professionals |
Key takeaway: The structural difference is risk, not price. With Scaler you carry the full ₹3,99,000 whether or not you land a job. With pay-after-placement bootcamps the institute carries the risk, but you pay a share of your salary later and the programs are mostly built for freshers.
We break the pay-later model down in detail in our guide to pay after placement coding bootcamps. If you are specifically weighing Scaler against Masai, our Scaler Academy vs Masai School comparison goes through curriculum, placements and fees side by side. Is Scaler Academy worth ₹4 lakh?
The honest answer depends on three things: your current salary, your experience level, and whether you will actually finish.
Scaler's reported outcomes
Scaler's placement report for the 2024 and 2025 cohorts, assessed by B2K Analytics, states that 12,851 learners completed the program and 11,444 were placed, an 89% placement rate among completers. Average CTC moved from about ₹11 LPA to ₹24 LPA, with the top 25% averaging ₹45 LPA. The report covers learners who completed the program and met attendance criteria, so dropouts are not in the denominator. The average learner in these cohorts had 4.4 years of experience, which tells you who Scaler is really built for.
Simple payback math
Take a conservative case, smaller than the ₹11 LPA to ₹24 LPA average Scaler reports. If you earn ₹8 LPA today and move to ₹15 LPA after Scaler, you recover ₹3,99,000 in about 7 months of the salary difference. If you earn ₹15 LPA and move to ₹20 LPA, payback takes about 10 months. If you are a fresher with no salary, the math is far less certain and a pay-after-placement bootcamp removes most of the downside.
When Scaler is worth it
- You have 1 to 8 years of experience and are stuck at a service company or in a non-coding role
- You can commit 15 to 20 hours a week for 12 months alongside your job
- You want structured DSA and system design preparation for product-company interviews
- You can afford no-cost EMI without stress
When it is not
- You are a fresher with no income and no savings cushion
- You are self-driven enough to use free resources plus a cheaper mock interview service
- You want a guaranteed job. Scaler does not offer one.
- You are not sure you will finish. The fee is non-refundable after 14 days, and most of the reported outcomes apply only to completers.

How to pay less for Scaler Academy
- Take the entrance test seriously. Spend a weekend on aptitude and basic coding problems before attempting it. The difference between a ₹10,000 and a ₹25,000 scholarship is often a few questions.
- Ask for no-cost EMI explicitly. Do not accept a standard-interest plan by default.
- Confirm GST in writing. Ask the counsellor for the exact invoice amount including taxes.
- Check employer reimbursement. Many IT services firms reimburse part of upskilling fees. A ₹50,000 to ₹1,00,000 reimbursement changes the math significantly.
- Use the 14 days. Attend everything, decide fast, and withdraw in writing if it is not working.
Bottom line
Scaler Academy costs ₹3,99,000 in 2026, before any scholarship and before confirming whether GST is included. For an experienced engineer earning ₹8 LPA or more who wants a structured path into product companies, the payback is usually under a year if you finish and get placed. For freshers or anyone without a salary to fall back on, the fee is a heavy, non-refundable bet, and a pay-after-placement bootcamp shifts that risk to the institute.
